November 2010 Jamaica Mission

We completed clinics in Kingston, and expanded our clinics to include St. Elizabeth's Parish and also new venues in St. Mary's Parish (near Port Maria) seeing close to 600 patients. We are also moving forward with the development of new surgical opportunities at St. Joseph's and at Annotto Bay Hospital which will benefit more women in the surrounding areas.
We found great need everywhere, with diabetes and hypertension the most common issues for adults both in the country and in Kingston, and asthma as the most common problem facing children in Kingston.
We greatly appreciate the support of Franciscan Ministries, especially Sisters Grace and Celia, Elaine Chong and Charmaine Anderson in Kingston and Stephen and June Chung, in Port Maria without whose hospitality and generosity this work would not be possible.
